Reflected Arcs by Ole C. Salomonsen on Flickr.The web is flowing over with pictures of spectacular auroras these days,
and I have thousands just from the last days, litterally speaking, and will
post later. But here I am posting a little different shot, beautiful auroras dancing
over arctic mountains at Senja, Northern Norway, reflected in a perfectly calm pond
in the foreground.
The scene was dark due to no moon, and even if I lightened up the foreground slightly,
the image may appear dark due to downsizing on some uncalibrated screens. View Larger

Norwegian Woods by Ole C. Salomonsen on Flickr.Shot this on sept 27/28th.
Amazing conditions currently from the flow from the sun. Barely time to be home.
Just have to charge the batteries and head out again!
I crawled out on a narrow slippery rock to be able to shoot this. Low standpoint, as low as my tripod allwoed me.
The river was very very calm, I could look straight through the surface to the bottom when the lights lit it up in the complete darkness.
Canon EOS 5D Mark II + Nikon 14-24G 2.8 @ f/2.8, ISO 3200.
Slightly underexposed so some noise was present, had to use som noise reduction. But overall satisfied with this location and composition. View Larger

Earth from Space: Summer in bloom by europeanspaceagency on Flickr.The phytoplankton bloom pictured in this Envisat image stretches across the Barents Sea off the coast of mainland Europe’s most northern point, Cape Nordkinn. Although most types of phytoplankton are individually microscopic, the chlorophyll they use for photosynthesis collectively tints the colour of the surrounding ocean waters.
This allows for these tiny organisms to be detected from space with dedicated ‘ocean colour’ sensors, such as Envisat’s Medium Resolution Imaging Spectrometer, which acquired this image on 17 August 2011. View Larger

737 WL + colorful clouds @ OSL by jorgen.syversen on Flickr.Above the planet on a wing and a prayer,
My grubby halo, a vapour trail in the empty air
Across the clouds I see my shadow fly
Out of the corner of my watering eye
A dream unthreatened by the morning light
Could blow this soul right through the roof of the night

Faithful Partner by steinliland on Flickr.You were always there;
To welcome me home.
Excited and Happy;
“You’re Home!!!; You’re Home!!!; I missed you so!!!”
You always seemed to be saying.
When I brought you home;
You were so small and insecure.
Fuzzy , fluffy little ball.
Cuddling close to me,
For protection and love.
Big wondering eyes
Peeking out from under your cover.
You grew quickly, running and
playing with thrown balls;
Becoming protective and loyal;
One day, way too soon
You were no longer a puppy
With long awkward legs.
Now a grown dog,
Handsome and strong;
.
Dutiful, and protective
Deep searching eyes,
seeing all, missing nothing.
Alert to any sound,
Loyal companion and best friend
Giving all you had,
Asking for nothing;
But a scratch behind the ears,
A long brushing of your coat.
Head across my knees.
Way too soon,
You slowed down.
The bouncing gait,
Replaced by labored
Attempts to keep up.
One thing never changed,
The loving fire in your eyes
When you looked into my own.
Until those eyes closed
And you great heart stopped.
Now you sleep,
Under your favorite tree;
You are missed daily,
In our Hearts with us always
Goodbye my Loyal, Best Friend!!!!!!! View Larger
