Thanks for all the positive comments and corrections to the information on this pic! In Germany, it is a big problem to paint this jets in a special colour. This kind of special painting is only allowed for a special reason AND before a jets goes to its inspection. After the work is done, the jets will be painted in the standard colour pattern. In the last years it was a special camouflage pattern for the airforce and a special pattern for the navy. Since 2005, there are no navy jets anymore and all Tornados are painted in the standard-airforce-grey pattern.
I was working in the naval airwing two for many years. I lived my dream and 2005 with the dissolution of the naval airwing two - I’ve lost my dream. Now, 2 years after leaving the navy, I’m working again for the Tornado. I’m now a technical author for all the technical publications for the German Tornado. Now I know, this great masterpiece of engineering will fly until 2035! We keep the spirit alive!
